چکیده

The recently discovered ‘‘longitudinal leaky’’ surface acoustic wave on YZ-cut lithium niobate has been used to implement low-loss bandpass filters operating in the 2.5-GHz Bluetooth frequency range. The filter is of the ladder type, employing synchronous resonators as building blocks. Resonator Q-values above 300 have been measured. The filter features a center frequency of 2491 MHz, a minimum insertion loss of 3.5 dB, and a fractional 3-dB bandwidth as wide as 6.2%. © 2003 American Institute of Physics. DOI: 10.1063/1.1573361

Longitudinal leaky (LL) waves on YZ-LiNbO3 substrates [1, 2] feature many properties which are unusual for SAW and remain unexplained. Recent demonstration [3] of wideband low-loss filters operating on LL waves in the 2.5–5 GHz frequency range, manufactured with optical lithography, makes these waves of primary practical importance. Filters based on LL waves may become competitors against the F...

Observation of surface acoustic wave Brillouin scattering in optical microfibers

We report the observation of surface-acoustic-wave Brillouin scattering (SAWBS) in a subwavelength-diameter fiber and show that this effect relies on the generation by the electrostrictive force of phonons confined at the surface of the microwire. OCIS codes: 290.5900, 060.4370, 160.6030 Brillouin scattering between sound and light waves has been extensively investigated in optical fibers. It i...

High Frequency Surface Acoustic Wave Devices Based On Multilayered LiNbO3/Diamond/AlN Substrates: A Finite Element Study

We have used 3-D coupled field structural finite element models to study the acoustic wave propagation characteristics of diamond/AlN/LiNbO3 multilayered piezoelectric surface acoustic wave devices for applications in chemical and biological sensing. These devices were studied as a method to increase device frequency and sensitivity, and maintain standard fabrication procedures. Although recent...

Attenuation of 7 GHz surface acoustic waves on silicon

Abstract We measured the attenuation of GHz frequency surface acoustic waves (SAWs) on the Si (001) surface using an optical pump-probe technique at temperatures between 300 and 600 K. SAWs are generated and detected by a 700 nm Al grating fabricated by nano-imprint lithography. The grating for SAW generation is separated from the grating for SAW detection by ≈ 150 μm. The amplitude of SAWs is ...

Rayleigh Surface Wave Propagation in Transversely Isotropic Medium with Three-Phase-Lag Model

The present paper is dealing with the propagation of Rayleigh surface waves in a homogeneous transversely isotropic medium .This thermo-dynamical analysis is carried out in the context of three-phase-lags thermoelasticity model. Three phase lag model is very much useful in the problems of nuclear boiling, exothermic catalytic reactions, phonon-electron interactions, phonon scattering etc. The n...
